Thank you to Margaret Sinclair for leading the service at Tullochgorm this morning and to all those who braved the rain to join us. Thanks also to Scott our Lone Piper from Mid-Argyll Pipe Band, who always makes our outdoor remembrance service so special. Even the rams in the field stood to attention.
"We will Remember Them".
Merry Christmas to all our website visitors.
West Loch Fyne Community Council wishes you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
This is Sir Islay's Christmas tree planted over 75 years ago at Crarae. The photo was taken in the snow earlier in December. For more snowy Crarae pictures see the December gallery in the Friends of Crarae website. www.friendsofcrarae.com
The Friends of Crarae Annual Carol Concert was held on the 15th December 2016 in the Visitor Centre.
The Dalriada Singers entertained a packed house with Carols, Choral music and Festive readings, poems and an ingenious Jingle Bells piano duet (one keyboard!).
The hot mince-pies and mulled fruit punch were a welcome relief from the blustery evening. In all the takings were in the region of £390 so thank you to everyone who attended, took part and gave of their precious time to make this event such a success.
The final service was held in Lochfyneside Church on the 10th July 2016. This little church, designed by RR Speirs of Glasgow and made of corrugated iron, was built in 1910. An article in the Argyllshire Advertiser on the 22nd July described the origins of the church, items within it and provided some background to some of those who had worshipped there over the years.
Thanks to David Fyfe Jackson for the photographs.
Standing Room Only! After an absence of four years, carols returned to Crarae.
Thursday’s Christmas Music evening organised by the Friends of Crarae was a resounding success. The audience was met with a welcoming glass of Christmas punch and mince pies. After a chance to mingle in the crowd and purchase raffle tickets, we were entertained by The Dalriada Singers with a generous mixture of popular carols, Christmas-related music from around the world, Christmas readings and a piano duet. The Dalriada Singers were directed by John Marsden and accompanied by Bruce Weir. Around 50 people attended the evening, raising just under £ 500 for the charity. Thank you to everyone for making the evening at Crarae so enjoyable.
